wishful wednesday #2

I realise that there is less than an hour left of wednesday and that my orginization skills have not been the best, but late is better than never.

In the last week I have done various things such as seen my sister who is off to america for three weeks, been to my friends house for her birthday and tidied/cleared out my bedroom. Due to this I have many things to be wishful for:

rachael to have a safe journey to america
my drawers to sort themselves out
more time to prepare for sixth form
smaller pores
a black skater skirt
normal vision
the sidebar on the blog to sort itself out
ideas of things to get my dad for his birthday
a tall bookcase for my room

How to handle getting foot cream out of the hair

A while back, I accidentally got a fair bit of foot cream in my hair (don't ask), which is the WORST thing to get in your hair EVER. As foot cream (I use Soap and Glory heel genius; highly recommended, but not for the hair) is very greasy, it is a total pain to try and get it out. However, after many trials and tribulations, I finally managed to find a method that worked wonderfully!

You may think just to wash your hair with normal shampoo. This doesn't work. Instead, I used (brace yourself) washing up liquid. This sounds odd, but the fact is that it contains chemicals that latch on to (therefore removing) the nasty grease.

Even though I haven't used it all too much, I would imagine that this works for any very greasy substance.

To use, lightly massage the 'problem area' with the washing up liquid like you would with a nomal shampoo and make sure a big lather (bubbles) is created, then rinse. To get foot cream out, I did this a few times until it felt lovely and soft! Then I used my normal shampoo skipping out the conditioner to avoid more grease.

Things to remember:
- If you are in a hard water area (generally southern in the UK) you may need to use more washing up liquid to create a big lather
- Don't 'massage' too violently or you could damage your hair folicles, stimulating more grease to be created
- Use a good brand like Persil or Fairy, as these have the best properties in them for removing grease
- Don't use too much washing up liquid or wash it too many times as this can make your hair pretty dry, removing the natural oils in the hair.

You could do this, or just not get foot cream in the hair to start off with (I'm an idiot). Hope this was helpful!

Small hands

I have very small hands. BABY HANDS! This is not a useful trait and I would like to complain.

Downsides to having tiny hands:
Everyone says that my brain is tiny (the myth that the fist is the same size of the brain)
My nails are tiny and weak
Rings don't stay on my fingers (with tiny hands comes even smaller fingers)
If I gain the smallest bit of weight, it is very obvious because it is so disproportionate to my bones
Hand holding proves difficult
It looks like I have sausage fingers
I cannot carry big/many bags
A henna tattoo is out of the question
Bracelets always fall off
I cannot open jars or bottles successfully
My hand won't fit around a discus (that throwing thing that you had to use in P.E)
I cannot (physically) play the piano or guitar despite desperately wanting to
I will never be able to be a pizza delivery guy
I always use too much hand cream

If you have big hands and feel you are at a disadvantage, SHUT UP

Wishful wednesday #1

I am hoping to update this every wednesday with things (materialistic or otherwise) that I would like to do/have. I want to become more proactive with getting round to doing things that I want to, and general listing of things that I want.

Wishing for:

tamed hair
smaller pores
a tidy room
the royal baby to be called edward
higher metabolism
the moth to get out of my room
a tan
wishful wednesday to be a success
new pencilcase
headphones that don't fall off
bigger hands to play guitar
winter

Bye!

Review: 211 Things A Bright Girl Can Do - Bunty Cutler

On my birthday (May), my best bud got me a book (which I now call my Bible) called '211 Things A Bright Girl Can Do' by Bunty Cutler. At first, I thought it would be one of the dreaded 8-10 year old girly self-help books from the look of the cover...

However, it has become very apparent to me now that I should not, as my mother says, judge a book by its cover. In esscence, it is a reference book, however, a HILARIOUS one at that. It has various how-to style topics within chapters, each of which provides so many laughs, yet some damn good info at the same time. I don't think it's a book one should read all the way through, as it has a wild variety of topics; I have never read the 'Horse Sense' saga as I have no interest in the subject, however, take much joy in reading 'How to lose six pounds in six hours' (Sidenote: this includes picking scabs and giving blood, so don't get too excited). Along with the latter, some of my favourites include 'How to ride a space hopper in a mini skirt' and 'How to worm a cat'. Also, without 'Understanding the offside rule', I never would have gotten through hours of football forced upon me by the males of the family. I highly recommend this to everyone; Cutler uses a hilarious writing style to demonstrate her point and the amount of variety in topics is wonderful! Bye!

Purchases!

I went into town today to buy myself a few treats (despite having no job or money) to try to tackle the sun this summer as we finally have some in the UK (woohoo)! I wanted to focus on skincare as I have very fair skin so I need to protect/cover it due to getting burnt (despite the many layers of suncream I slather on before going into the light).

My ventures into Boots are a rather good part of my day; I adore seeing all of the pretty makeup and beautiful women that portray it. It gives me one of those feelings like "I need to buy ALL of these products so that I look like you", which can be nice, but sometimes very dangerous...

First I went off into the baby section looking for Sudocrem (which proved very difficult due to a recent renovation at my local Boots store). "Sudocrem?!", you may ask. To you I say, yes, I am perfectly aware that it is most commonly used as nappy rash cream (mmm), and no, I don't actually have nappy rash (surprisingly), but I do have an awful lot of sunburn. As it gets into British summertime, the sun comes out, and decides to murder my skin. Sudocrem, as an antisepic healing cream, is supposed to make your skin a whole lot better, therefore, due to the recommendation of my chum (thanks Ele), I decided to pick it up. As you can see (at the bottom; I couldn't figure out how to move pictures), I have already been at it, and I gladly recommend it to anyone who has fair skin and gets sunburn very easily like myself. I have to admit, it doesn't have the best scent in the world, but it is worth it for the job it does. I bought a 175g tub for £3.99 (although a tiny tub was available for £1.99 and a larger one for £6.50).

The next products that I bought were the Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula, one in a squeezy bottle (250ml) and one in a tub (100g). I know it is the same actual product but each was on sale for under £2 (!!!!!), so I felt inclined to buy one for home and another for travel. I ADORE the smell of anything cocoa-esque, so I fell in love with it at first sniff. I have heard a lot about it, and am hoping that it will improve a lot of the dry skin on my body. Also, I figured that it would be good to moisturise after hot weather, and possibly after tanning (if I am brave enough to make the transition from ghostly white to possible oompa loompa). If you have the chance, go grab some from Boots as it is in the sale at the moment for extremely cheap!

The final product I bought was one I have been wanting for a long time, but I have been waiting for an offer to come up. However, being the impatient person I am, I had grown sick of waiting, and went and bought the Collection (where did the 2000 go?) Lasting Perfection Concealer. I have heard so many positive reviews of this product that I felt inclined to buy it, and I have very high hopes. I bought it for £4.19 in the colour Fair, which is a very good match for my skin (yay), and a wonderful price. The one little petty thing that annoyed me about the product is that the writing on the bottle has already started to smudge off, making it look as if I have owned it for a whole month, not just a day. I know that it is a very small thing to be annoyed about, but I do like to be able to know what product it is I am putting on my face, and I can tell that the writing will not last much longer.

Toodles!
