'Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the musical' review

Not too long ago, I went to see Priscilla (I have a habit of going to see shows with unfathomably long names, which is why it shall henceforth be known as said name) with my mum at our local theatre, so I thought I would blog my experience. WARNING: contains spoilers!

In a nutshell, Priscilla is a story about three transvestite lip-sync performers who take a trip to the Australian outback in a bus named 'Priscilla' to perform Kylie (minogue) on Ayers Rock, frocks and all. I want to start by saying that the costumes and make-up were INCREDIBLE, so a massive thumbs up to the department from me. My favourite costume was perhaps the paintbrush costumes, however I loved all of them.

Another stand-out feature of the show was the dancing; those guys were more flexible than I am addicted to kinder bueno (mucho). The chorus were absolutely amazing as well as the main characters, and the audience participation was a nice touch. Perhaps my favourite part of the show was the three mermaid-narrator-fish-women. They had astounding voices, and I only wish they were on stage more often.

Overall, I loved the show, and would rate it one of the best I've ever seen! It was hilarious in all the right places with amazing music and a perfect balance of emotive parts, but not too OTT with the tranny jokes. I would give a 8½ out of 10.

Bye!!

ps. my internet has been playing up so my posts may be a little irregular until I get it sorted :(
